As the scorching heat intensifies this April, residents of Howrah find themselves grappling with an additional challenge - a severe water shortage at the district hospital. Families of patients are compelled to purchase water due to the lack of adequate supply within the hospital premises, exacerbating their already stressful situations.

Dr. Kishlay Dutt, the Chief Health Officer of Howrah District, downplays the severity of the water scarcity issue at the hospital, asserting that it is not as significant as portrayed. However, contrary to his claims, families of patients assert that not only is there a dearth of potable water in the emergency department, but the available alternative water source is also unsuitable for consumption.

The situation has led to opportunistic individuals capitalizing on the misfortune of others, with reports emerging of businessmen initiating water-selling ventures within the hospital compound.

Dr. Kishloy Dutt has assured that the hospital authority has taken necessary steps by informing the relevant departments, such as Public Works Department (PWD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE), about the situation. He has further assured that the issue will be addressed promptly, providing relief to the patients and their families.
